Obtaining operational approval from Richmond Fire-Rescue
In order to operate a food truck in Richmond, the food truck must obtain a valid Richmond Fire-Rescue decal that is issued annually.
This decal is an indication that the food truck and owner have met the requirements for fire and life safety as it pertains to the systems on the truck (fire protection systems are tested, inspected and maintained, fire extinguishers are in place, applicable gas and electrical decals are provided on the vehicle/trailer)
Richmond Fire-Rescue normally hosts an annual, single-day Food Vendor/Mobile Food Trucks Inspection Day each Spring. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, this annual inspection day has been cancelled for 2021.
Due to this cancellation, mobile food truck inspections will be not charged in 2021, unless a re-inspection is required, then a fee will be applied.
