Opening or licensing a childcare facility?

A proposed childcare facility must be inspected by Richmond Fire-Rescue to help ensure applicable fire and life safety requirements have been fulfilled.

The fire inspection is one part of the approval process for establishing a licensed childcare space in Richmond. Follow the steps below before submitting your inspection request.

Fire inspection

Submit an inspection request

Once municipal approval has been received for the proposed childcare space, submit the Richmond Fire-Rescue inspection request form to arrange the required fire inspection.

Inspection fees

An inspection fee may apply. Any applicable fee information will be provided as part of the inspection request and scheduling process.
