What We Respond To

Emergency Response

Ready to Respond When Richmond Needs Us

Richmond Fire-Rescue responds to a wide range of emergencies throughout our community. Our firefighters are trained and equipped to provide fire suppression, emergency medical care, rescue services and specialized emergency response.

Fire Emergencies

We respond to reported fires of all types, including residential, commercial, vehicle, cooking, electrical, industrial and outdoor fires.

Medical Emergencies

Firefighters provide emergency medical care when someone requires immediate assistance, including serious illness, injury and other life-threatening medical emergencies.

Motor Vehicle Incidents

We respond to serious vehicle collisions involving injuries, unsafe vehicles, trapped occupants, leaking fluids or other hazards requiring emergency assistance.

Specialized Emergency Response

Not every emergency involves flames. Richmond Fire-Rescue responds to many other situations where specialized equipment, training or public-safety assistance is required.

Fire Alarm Activations

We respond to activated fire alarms even when smoke or flames are not immediately visible.

GAS

Gas Leaks

A reported gas leak or unexplained smell of natural gas can present a serious fire and explosion hazard. Richmond Fire-Rescue responds to investigate and help make the area safe.

Specialized rescue teams may be required when someone cannot safely escape from a difficult or hazardous location.

Hazardous Materials

We respond to chemical releases, fuel spills and other hazardous-material incidents that may threaten people, property or the environment.

Richmond Fire-Rescue responds to emergency incidents at Vancouver International Airport, including medical and fire emergencies within the airport environment.

Public Assistance

Certain situations may not present an immediate life-threatening emergency but can still require assistance from public-safety professionals.
