The Richmond Fire-Rescue (Local 1286) hockey team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG), held in Birmingham, Alabama, from July 1-6, 2025, securing the Division 1 Hockey championship title with an undefeated 5-0 record.

The team, composed of 14 dedicated first responders from Richmond Fire-Rescue (Local 1286), competed against top-tier teams in the Division 1 Hockey category. Local 1286 clinched victory with a decisive 5-2 win over Sureté du Québec, showcasing exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination.

The World Police & Fire Games, an Olympic-style competition held biennially, brings together thousands of first responders from across the globe, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, and personnel from corrections, probation, border protection, immigration, and customs. Featuring over 60 sports, the Games celebrate the athletic prowess and camaraderie of these brave professionals.

Richmond Fire-Rescue’s triumph at the 2025 WPFG highlights their commitment to excellence both on and off the ice. The team’s undefeated run and championship victory are a testament to their hard work, resilience, and pride in representing their community.
