Richmond is presently in an extreme fire hazard rating. 

To mitigate risk to property and residents, the City of Richmond has decided to close access and post signage at the following park sites: 

• Shell Road Trail (South Dike to Westminster Highway) 
• Bridgeport Trail (Shell Road to Van Horne Way) 
• Hamilton Trail (River Road to Gilley Road) 
• Nature Park East 
• Nature Park West Trails 

Furthermore, the City of Richmond has four designated Park barbeque sites: 

• South Arm Park
• Garry Point Park 
• King George Park
• McDonald Beach Park

Due to the extreme fire hazard rating, these sites have banned all BBQs effectively immediately until further notice.
