Loren Slye, a long-time Steveston resident and a retired Richmond Firefighter, has been named a recipient of the 2023 National Award for Volunteerism.

Slye’s remarkable contributions were celebrated in Ottawa on April 15, as he received this esteemed award from the federal government’s Canada’s Volunteer Awards (CAV) program, a testament to his selflessness and commitment.

Today, Loren also received the Fire Chief Commendation from Fire Chief Jim Wishlove “in recognition of his dedicated years of service to the Richmond Fire Department, the City of Richmond, and the Fire Services across Canada.”

Congratulations, Loren, and thank you for all you have done.
