In the colder months, it’s sometimes hard to stay warm. Many households resort to using space heaters, but it’s not as simple as just turning it on. So, how can we keep our homes safe?
When using space heaters, there are a few things you need to look out for. Many types of space heaters are safe to use for long periods, But you want to make sure that you have a space heater certified by a major testing organization recognized by the standards council of Canada (CSA, ULC, UL, ETC).
Some of the safety features you want to have include automatic shut-off, tip-over protection, a shut-off timer, and an adjustable thermostat. Having these additional features prevents accidental fires from occurring and provides you with more comfort while heating your home.
When you use your Space Heater, make sure you keep it 3 feet away from anything that can burn, keep children and pets away from it at all times, only ever use it inside the home, and make sure you never leave it unattended.
