Trevor Northrup

Trevor embarked on his first responder journey with the Canadian Coast Auxiliary in Steveston, where he honed his skills and passion for serving others. Inspired by his father’s legacy as a firefighter, Trevor made the pivotal decision to transition into the firefighting profession.

In 2000, Trevor seized an opportunity to join Richmond Fire Rescue, leaving behind his role as a Preteen coordinator at Richmond Community Services. His dedication and commitment to excellence were quickly recognized, leading to his progression through various roles within the department.

As a multi-disciplinary instructor and program lead, Trevor demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise, earning him promotions to the positions of Training Officer and Company Officer. His relentless pursuit of excellence culminated in his appointment to the temporary Deputy Chief position in January 2023, followed by his permanent role as Assistant Deputy Chief in October 2023.

Throughout his career, Trevor has garnered accolades for his outstanding service. In 2011, he was honored with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce Firefighter of the Year award, a testament to his unwavering dedication to the community. Additionally, Trevor received a Vancouver Police Board Certificate of Merit, further underscoring his exemplary contributions to public safety.

Beyond his professional achievements, Trevor’s commitment to family and community remains unwavering. His passion for serving the people of Richmond extends beyond his career, as evidenced by his active involvement in volunteerism. One of Trevor’s proudest moments was serving as the chairperson for the Richmond Hockey Merge Committee, leading to the establishment of the Richmond Jets Minor Hockey Association. This initiative stands as a shining example of Trevor’s ability to bring the community together through leadership and vision.
