As e-bikes become more popular for commuting and recreation, it’s important to remember that they come with unique safety concerns—especially when it comes to their lithium-ion batteries.
The Squad urges all riders to charge e-bikes using only the manufacturer-approved charger, never overnight or unattended. Always store e-bikes in a cool, dry area away from exits and flammable materials. If the battery shows signs of damage—such as swelling, overheating, or a strange odour—stop using it immediately and contact the manufacturer.
Practicing safe charging and storage habits can prevent fires and keep you and your community safe.
