Burning of Chametz (Registration Required)

Friday, April 15, 2022 / 10:45 am to 12:00 pm

The Burning of Chametz is a Jewish practice that involves removing all bread, crumbs, and all leavened products from ones possession just prior to the Holiday of Passover.

As part of the preparations, there is a symbolic supervised burning of these food items.

Richmond Fire-Rescue, in collaboration with Chabad Richmond, is delighted to provide the Jewish community with a safe and educational place to perform this custom.

This private event will be held on

Richmond’s Brighouse Fire Hall,6960 Gilbert Road.

If you are interested in attending this private event, please register with Chabad Richmond at 604-277-6427.

Join us for the burning of Chametz, a tour of a fire truck, handle some of our auto extrication tools, pose for a picture, and help us make this annual event a fun and safe way to celebrate a long-standing tradition.

Richmond Fire-Rescue will be providing fire and life safety information and education for all those in attendance.
